Thank You for Building a Generous and Supportive Community

‘Tis the season to celebrate friendships and the beautiful connections created throughout the year. Thanks to you, we have much to be grateful for in 2023!

  • Caring Support - NNV volunteers provided over 2,500 services, offering direct support to neighbors with transportation, technology support, friendly visits, and tasks like taking out the trash and raking leaves. Our professional team worked collaboratively with volunteers to support members in the hospital, rehab, and hospice.
  • Engaged and Connected - NNV offered many opportunities for members to learn, stay fit, and enjoy time with others. In addition to NNV’s 330 events, an additional 75 programs offered by neighboring DC Villages were made available to our members.
  • Equitable Access - NNV provided over $20,000 in membership subsidies to address significant unmet needs among older adults in our community. We expanded on our work to incorporate equitable and inclusive practices by participating in a year-long process of assessing our organization, relationship-building, and planning.
  • Trusted Resource - NNV remained a trusted resource for information that is important to older adults and our community. NNV’s professional team and volunteers helped many access the flu and Covid-19 vaccines by hosting two vaccine clinics this year.
  • Building a Supportive Community - NNV members, volunteers, and board have contributed hundreds of hours sharing their time and talent to advance NNV’s mission by participating in our working groups, contributing to our newsletter, and making important strides to address diversity, equity, and inclusion in our Village.
  • Strengthening the Village Movement Citywide - NNV dedicated hundreds of hours to create and support the newly established DC Villages Collaborative (DCVC), with NNV Vice President Morgan Gopnik as the inaugural chair of the DCVC Collaboration Council. The collaborative will strengthen existing Villages and seek opportunities to expand services in unserved areas of the city.

Our sincerest thanks for all you do to make our Village special. NNV board and staff extend our warmest greetings for the Holiday Season.
