NNV is Hosting a Vaccine Clinic

Northwest Neighbors Village is hosting a vaccine clinic at Forest Hills of DC (4901 Connecticut Ave, NW). Covid (Moderna or Pfizer), Flu, RSV, Shingles and Pneumococcal shots will be available. (To receive an RSV and/or Pneumococcal shot, you must be 50 or over). When you register, please let us know in the comments which shots you would like to receive. $10 Giant gift cards will be provided to adults 60 years and over or people with disabilities who receive Covid and/or Flu Shot and complete a brief survey.

Vaccines will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Please bring a book or other materials to pass the time in the event of a wait.

It's not too late to get your flu shot!

Here's why the COVID shot is important:

  • Protection Against Severe Illness: The updated vaccines are designed to target current and evolving COVID-19 variants, offering better protection against severe illness, hospitalization, and death. Protection from the COVID-19 vaccine decreases with time. Similar to the flu vaccine, the Covid vaccine is adjusted annually to meet the most current variants.
  • Recommended for All: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone ages 6 months and older get one of the updated vaccines, regardless of whether they have had previous COVID-19 infections or vaccinations.
  • Long COVID: Even if you have had COVID-19 or are experiencing long COVID, getting the updated vaccine is still recommended.
  • Staying Up-to-Date: Staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccines is crucial for protecting yourself and others from the virus. Protect your loved ones who may be vulnerable.

How do I know if I am up-to-date? On October 23, 2024, then CDC Director Mandy Cohen endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices' (ACIP) recommendation for people 65 years and older and those who are moderately or severely immunocompromised to receive a second dose of 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine six months after their first dose.

So for those 65+, a second dose of the vaccine is recommended 6 months after the first dose. If you are 65+ and your most recent COVID shot was before Sept 3, you would meet the 6-month timeframe where the vaccine would have worn off enough to warrant a second dose.

Parking is available on-site and on the street.

Proof of medical insurance card and a photo ID are required at the appointment. Please plan to complete paperwork when you arrive.
