Summer may be coming to an end but NNV’s programming is heating up. In addition to our robust calendar of events, NNV has a number of special events you won’t want to miss! We hope you will join us for some - or all - of our upcoming activities.

Ain’t No Back to a Merry-Go-Round Film Screening and Fundraiser - Kick off NNV’s 15th Anniversary celebration with a screening of Ain’t No Back to a Merry-Go-Round, the untold story of the first organized interracial civil rights protest in U.S. history that occurred right here in Glen Echo Amusement Park!

The event will take place on Tuesday, September 17th at 6:30 pm at the DCJCC, 1529 16th Street, NW. Tickets are $100 each and sponsorships are available. Enjoy a wine and cheese reception, viewing of the film, and a post-screening discussion. We are delighted to share that Robert Siegel former host of NPR’s All Things Considered will moderate this discussion with the film’s director Ilana Trachtman and civil rights champion and native Washingtonian Wade Henderson.

Ticket sales and sponsorships for this event support NNV’s vital services and programming. Click here to learn more and to purchase tickets. We hope to see you there!

Virtual Speaker Series is Back on September 3rd - Our popular series is back with an array of topics from cognitive testing, to Russia over the past 40 years, to DC’s down ballot races and Initiative 83. Plan to join us for one or all of these discussions, which are designed to engage and inform you. NNV's Speaker Series is offered to all members and is free of charge to the community. Chevy Chase Day is September 21st from 1-4 - Join your neighbors at the Chevy Chase Community Center for a fun and festive afternoon outdoors. Come and celebrate with family, friends, and local organizations and businesses. Be sure to stop by NNV’s table and enjoy a free Gentle Yoga class with our very own Mayu Suzuki in the basketball court at 1:00. Click here for more information. We look forward to seeing you there!

P.S. Save the date for NNV’s Annual End of the Summer Picnic on October 10th at 12:00 pm. Stay tuned for details.

Call for Summer Vacation Pics - Now that summer vacations are coming to an end, we’d love to pull together a collage of photos of your travels. NNV members and volunteers are encouraged to send your vacation pics and a few words about where you traveled to schong@nnvdc.org Photos will be shared in future Weekly Updates for everyone to enjoy!
