Villages Expanding into New DC Neighborhoods

Everyone in our Northwest Neighbors Village community knows what a difference it makes to the lives of our older neighbors—keeping them, safe, healthy, and engaged. Twelve other Villages provide similar services around the city, but there are still many neighborhoods in DC that have not had this kind of support–until now!

Over the past few years, individuals from the existing Villages, including our Executive Director Stephanie Chong and Board Member Morgan Gopnik, put in countless hours to launch the DC Villages Collaborative, a new organization representing all Villages in DC and advocating for the needs of older adults throughout the city. This year, the Collaborative worked closely with previously unserved communities to help them assess the needs of their older neighbors, resulting in the creation of three new Villages: Village on the Avenue and Nehemiah Intergenerational Village in Ward 7 and Faith North Michigan Park Village in Ward 5.

This summer and early Fall, the new Villages will hold official launch parties to celebrate (details below). All are welcome to join the fun! We are proud to welcome these partners into the larger Village community and look forward to sharing our experiences and learning from them.

Below are the details for the three upcoming launches:

1. Nehemiah Intergenerational Village

  • When: Saturday, August 1, 2026, noon – 2 pm
  • Location: Zion Church of Eastland Gardens 1234 Kenilworth Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20019

2. Faith North Michigan Park Village

  • When: Thursday, August 20, 2026, 10 am – 12:30 pm
  • Location: Faith United Church of Christ, 4900 10th Street NE, Washington, DC 20017

3. Village on the Avenue

  • Date: Saturday, September 19, 2026, noon – 3 pm
  • Location: The Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, 3000 Pennsylvania Avenue SE, Washington, DC 20020
