Step up to the plate at the iconic Nationals Park on Thursday, May 21 for an unforgettable celebration honoring older adults during Older Americans Month!
This event brings together seniors, their caregivers and families, aging services organizations, and residents from the region’s senior living communities for a day filled with joy, connection, and community spirit.
Whether you are an older adult, family member, friend, caregiver, neighbor, or professional passionate about positive aging, this is your moment to shine. Let’s come together to celebrate life’s homeruns, cheer each other on, and slide into lasting connections across generations.
This is a “proof of concept” event—if enough tickets are sold, the Washington Nationals will make it an official annual celebration! Keep reading to learn more about how this got started.
Details:
Resource Fair: Before the game starts, the DC Senior Resource Group will host a Resource Fair for all ticket holders for this special event. The Resource Fair will be open at 2:45 pm until the first pitch at 4:05 pm.
Ticket Sales: Only tickets purchased through this link will count toward our “proof of concept” ticket sales.
Everyone’s invited! Whether you are a current NNV member, volunteer, neighbor or friend – this game is for all! A group of NNV members will be seated in the 109 section. We’ll be easy to find, just look for our group in blue NNV t-shirts.
Background: Northwest Neighbors Village, in partnership with DC Villages and the Positive Aging SourceBook has been working with Nationals Park on a “proof of concept” game to celebrate Older Americans Month. With strong ticket sales this year, Nationals Park will make this an official themed ticket day next season—just like their university and military appreciation days, etc. So, let’s help to make it a tradition to celebrate Older Americans Month at future games! This is your opportunity to be part of a special day at the ballpark as we raise the visibility of older adults across the DC metro area. Together, we’ll celebrate aging, gather resources, enjoy a Nationals game, and help spread the word about the Villages and the supportive communities they create. We hope to see you there!
